Prayers for UK. Archbishop Paglia at Pontifical Academy for Life has been trying for many years to help get Catholics ready for this battle. I think many theologians have long realized the massive gap in our pro life messaging, namely that we have only described —up until recently— the human dignity as something residing in the physical corpus.
But the world slowly evolved past that a while ago as people requesting this suicide began describing human dignity in the intangibles of relationships and loss of ability to maintain them. So Catholics now have to insist the dignity is BOTH. But it also means that if we want to be credible, we have to to accompany and to remain with those who are suffering the loss of these relationships at end of life. An exhausting calling.
"The anti-culture of death was a love of lies and of deceit. It was an abuse of the body as a commodity and as a product. Even in our times there is this culture and we must say ‘No’ to it." --Pope Benedict XVI
Black Friday indeed.
Prayers for the UK.
Thanks Luke. The half-baked NY Times chose not to mention and specifics of Catholic or faith-based opposition. Par for their course.
ANY specifics

We are devastated here by this vote. So many lives put at risk. It feels like the country is permanently changed for the worse.
Lord have mercy
