This situation has gotten to where it is for one simple reason: the German bishops fear backlash from fellow Germans more than they fear harming communion with global Church and, more precisely, whatever governing tools the Holy Father might bring to bear on them to prevent them from doing so.
I simply cannot fathom that the Cardinal electors - of whatever theological persuasion - look at what this situation has become and think "you know, in the next conclave, I'm going to vote for more of this."
With reference to the elephant in the room, I am reminded of the old joke about another large mammal:
Where does an 800 pound gorilla sit?
Anywhere he wants.
The Germans are, for the time being, the 800 pound gorilla in money terms. The Africans are the 800 pound gorilla in vitality and demographics, so they can tell Rome where to stuff gay " blessings". Both can get away with almost anything.
As for Pope Francis objecting to the Germans' outrageous innovations in Church governance.....who wrote Evangelii Gaudium back in 2013? I refer to Para 32, which seems to invite instant multiple schisms all round. (Of course, some people may have been more focused on Para 253 of the same document which told us that Islam is a religion of peace).
"Yet this desire has not been fully realized, since a juridical status of episcopal conferences which would see them as subjects of specific attributions, including genuine doctrinal authority, has not yet been sufficiently elaborated.[37] Excessive centralization, rather than proving helpful, complicates the Church’s life and her missionary outreach."
I’m curious as to the motives of the synodal way committee. Are there any indications by their behavior, whether they care to be in union with the Catholic Church with all the money that they are guaranteed to collect by their exciting membership as new protestants?
Reminiscent of Mao Ze Dong putting factory workers in charge of automobile design and manufacturing in the 1950s.

I hope and pray you're right.
What is that ever so popular song in many parishes and women religious communities?
"Force A New Church Into Being?"
