And this is not even to mention the traditional Paris-Chartres pilgrimage concluding today, May 29, which was oversubscribed this year at 16,000 marchers, more than half of whom are under 20, if memory serves. That pilgrimage is, of course, a TLM event. At my advanced age and state of decrepitude I could not do the walk but could sign up to support them as a “Guardian Angel”, for which meditations comparable to those used in the match itself were provided and may be available to all under the Guardian Angels section of the ND- Chretiente website. This year’s theme was Eucharist-Salvation of Souls, and the meditations for each of the three days had a particular patron: for Saturday, Saint Thomas Aquinas, of course, one would say; but more interestingly, for Sunday the patron was Saint Charles de Foucauld, and for Monday, Bl. Conchita de Armida, the latter two being XX Century figures and so not fitting into what seems to be the commonly thought of Traditionalist mold of Counter Reformation clergy and religious exemplars. Not so backward-looking after all, eh?
