I appreciate the Pillar's coverage of Orthodox issues, both because of their pressing relevance to Ukraine, but also for shedding light on the unique problems faced by the Orthodox and the options they have for resolving them. While in some sense they resemble disputes within the Catholic Church, the fact that ecclesial authority seems to exist via mutual recognition between patriarchates rather than papal acknowledgement is a concern the Catholic Church doesn't really have to face. I'll be interested in seeing how it plays out, and I am hopeful that all the faithful Orthodox in Ukraine find peace and unity as their own church, rather than being subject to Moscow.
