Every time I hear about "debaptism", I can't help saying, what nonsense! I understand that it might be cathartic for a few, but by and large is probably just the latest social (media) contagion.

Anyway, regarding the stats at the end of the article, they should be broken down by nationality. For example, is the increase in baptism due do immigration?

I suspect the Pillar is painting the very dark big picture that bishops covered up to inflict the Belgian church. Micro-analyzing an increase in adult baptisms from 186 in 2014 to 364 this year seems like performing time & motion studies on the deck chairs of the Titanic.

Two thingz continue to be true:

Our Lord continues to draw people to himself through union with his Body; and

Too many of his shepherds are inwardly ravening wolves who tear the sheep, or hirelings who flee.

From your shepherds, O Lord, deliver your sheep!

The cover up of clergy sex abuse and the indifference towards the victims of the abuse by the Church continues and is so sad.

"Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” (Mark 3:29)." Surely, annulling your Baptism is blaspheming the Holy Spirit; these poor souls condemn themselves to hell eternal.

"Forgive them Father for they know not what they do"

I do not think you can justly claim any certainty when it comes to your last statement.

According to St. Augustine and many others, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is final impenitence, i.e., the obstinate rejection of the grace of repentance until death.

I don't think I've heard of any Church teaching or Church Father that points to asking to be removed from the Baptismal rolls as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. But, there Church Fathers and Church Councils that show that things like offering incense to idols and apostatizing to non-Christian religions are forgiven in the Sacrament of Penance.

Might want to slow your roll a bit.

Fourteen years to laicize a Cardinal who publicly admitted to child molestation, and who was protected by another Cardinal.

I can't imagine why the police of various countries might feel the need to lock down the bishops and clergy while searching for evidence...

What a teaching failure of the Catholic Faith!! You can not re receive Original sin. The teachers of our faith should address this fact to those requesting to be DE BAPTIZED. Instead they record it . What a total shame and denial of the truths of our Catholic Faith and Traditions.

NEXT, TO the Priests, Bishops , Cardinals and Pope, when is our Catholic Church going to irradiate this sin of ABUSE. This sin needs to be prevented and exorcised out of our Church. These victims need to be listened to and compensated for their injuries. If it means financial turmoil for the parishes SO BE IT. I know that God is in charge. I know God will provide. I know that the Catholic Church will not fail. So it seems that all of these so called difficulties in Belgium are do to a major lack of Faith.
