After reading this chronology, I’m going back to Lumen Gentium (anniversary of its promulgation in 1964 is TODAY! ) to try and understand the meaning of the word “stable”.
This makes me wonder: how do bishop resignation/removal rates compare across pontificates (particularly for reasons besides health or age)? A potential question for Brendan, maybe.

"Stable" is not a word that I would apply to the Church...both in the positive and negative meanings.
