Gee, isn't the Holy Spirit, who is supposedly the one deciding all of these things, a devious One?

I, for one, would have 0 complaints if a significant portion of the Pillar's reporting became centered on JD's Catholic travelogue.

Nor would I!

I'm afraid we feel this quasi-vocational call to report on the reform of the Church, which means I've also got to spend time on that. But yes, "JD travels to Catholic places" is some of my favorite Pillar stuff.

I realize that this is an unimportant quibble on the scale of things, but privateers and pirates were not the same, at least legally speaking. Pirates were outlaws; privateers were commissioned by a particular government.

I know, Mary-Clare, you're 100% right. Privateers are government commissioned pirate-like fellows who are not actually pirates. I'm aware of the distinction, and I walked right through it for the sake of telling a good story, and you called me on it. You're 100% right!

It's an excellent story, and I'm sorry for quibbling.

You shouldn't be. Quibbling's the best. I'm sorry for my inaccuracy.

St. Hyacinth was kidnapped in China in 1769. This text originally said 1796 -- some 23 years after St. Hyacinth was dead. We have corrected the error. Please forgive us.

I'm curious how the situation is there currently, compared to when the above article was written. Impressed you did the trip in a day!!

My burning question about this Arabian day trip... The Arabian nights - were they really like the Arabian days?

Good to see both you and Ed channel Graham Greene, just don't get arrested while doing it.

Can you provide any update on the situation of Silverstream Priory from a couple years ago?

I don’t know if the Remnant’s story is true or false. But while outrageous, I don’t find it all that unbelievable. Obviously, as a subscriber to The Pillar, I trust Ed and JD’s sourcing and reporting. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there were kernels of truth (or murmurings) to Montange’s story.

Edit: unbelievable might an imprecise word. I don’t the story all that far-fetched.

Edit: “unbelievable” might an imprecise word. I don’t find the story all that far-fetched is perhaps a better way of saying it.

I appreciate this type of reporting which is essentially, “I wonder what things are like over there?”

I gotta say, you did well in annoying your sister halfway around the world. Well done.

Also, as a side note, has the Pillar talked about this year's IV Sunday/Christmas obligations? Thanks.
