This is a fantastic interview, thank you for doing and publishing it. She reminds me in many ways of Dorothy Day. For some who give their whole lives to God, nothing else ever matters much again. Rules, even rules of the Church, just don't matter to them, or else matter in a different way. They do what has to be done. Very few people can really do this, but we can all support them. I've met people like that, people who had an experience like hers in school -- when she looked around the room and realized that 20 people had been murdered and no one but her seemed to GET IT and that she could never, ever "unget" it -- and it seems to have taken them past the ability to ever live like the rest of us again.
Most of us might be sitting here thinking "these are not things that I could do" and then listing the specific reasons why being arrested for civil disobedience (although it is an honorable American tradition, and a proportionate response to institutionalized murder) would not be compatible with the duties that God has granted us at present. But, "Tell me who you want me to help today" seems like a thing that any of us could pray. God knows our own circumstances and what we are capable of (better than we do.)
I'm not altogether certain about the emphasis placed on the bodies of the unborn children, although it's good that a funeral Mass was said for them. Hopefully that emphasis was beyond the control of Lauren Handy and the PAAU.
But I am glad that clinic "rescues" are not a thing of the past, and that people like Lauren are willing to sacrifice their freedom to do them.
I am so inspired by your life, Lauren Handy! Please pray for all of us to love the way you have been doing, in and out of jail, on the streets and sidewalks. God has given you special fortitude!
Thanks for this interview, JD and Ed. It's really important to hear this, even for those of us who are Catholic and prolife. Lord, have mercy.

Those aspects of her also remind me of Simone Weil, the French activist/philosopher. She felt everything so deeply that way.
Great example.
Wonderful interview. God be the help of Lauren, Terissa and all who work with them.
Thank you for this interview. This really makes me examine my own life and what I am willing to say yes to. What a woman Lauren is.
