Gees… I mean at some point guys, the pope has said ‘this is the way’ and you just have to do it! Even through gritted teeth. Even if you hate it. If there’s nothing theologically or morally wrong with the instruction, suck it up and do it.
And frankly 50 years in Church time doesn’t give any practice much merit. And even if it’s 500 years old doesn’t mean it’s correct or good. People can be wrong about a lot of things for a long time. There’s got to be more to their argument in favour of keeping their ad orientum liturgy than just that.
It's the other way way round - they want to keep their liturgy facing the people. "Ad orientam" is the opposite. The "uniform mode" that authorities want to impose is a mixture.
It's not a matter of dogma or revelation. The Holy See could even more easily say, "You know what, this is more trouble than it is worth. We'll take the L and not try to press the issue any more." That would be a prudential decision and one that could, and possibly should, be taken at this point.
Top down liturgical change works like this: one week the liturgy is celebrated as it has been for whatever length of time, the next week they come in and change things and tell you: "the way we celebrated the liturgy last week was good then but is bad now and you're a bad person if you want it back." If you do ask for it back they get defensive and say: "You're a schismatic."
This is the story of liturgical change change in the Latin Church in the last 50+ years. Sad to see this migrating to the East (can it be considered a latinization?).
At some point Bishops are going to realize that they need to be more humble about the changes they request from the people.
Yes, it is a latinization, just as the ad populum position for any part of the Syro Malabar is a latinization.
The bishops of the past who allowed this innovation and, as a consequence, the the battle that now is raging were either ignorant, foolish or both.
If the folks who desire the Qurbano facing the people are willing to upset altars during the Liturgy, burn bishops in effigy and ignore the bishop of Rome who's communion they so value then maybe they should go to the Latin Church (though I'll bet they are tied to the SM Church for ethnic and cultural reasons). Better yet, they should go away, do penance and refrain from the Holy Mysteries until the are reconciled with the Lord and the Church.
These acts are grevously, objectively sinful.
These actions show no love for Christ, His Church or others.

They could always switch to the Latin rite and have ad populum with no difficulty.
Why does the Church seem to have become such a vehicle for division?
