If a priest wanted to vacation in greenland, would he be able to stay at the parish rectory for free in exchange for offering the sacraments? 🤔

I suspect that could definitely be arranged.

That would be awesome.

It was a common practice for priests living at the colleges in Rome to spend some time in these far flung places to celebrate the sacraments over the summer/Christmas breaks. I'm not sure if that still happens.

I bet at least some funds could be raised to defray travel expenses. I mean, I'd contribute!

Very likely, yes. Let me know if you need contacts here in the Diocese (of Copenhagen)!

Monsignor Bernard Bernard is officially my new favorite person.

Looks like he was Apostolic Prefect of the North Pole, and a missionary in Iceland and Norway. He's a Santa Viking Priest. History only has so much room in her annals for those.

I will say, Msgr. Bernard Bernard is doing a very poor job of convincing me that he is not, in fact, Santa. If jolly old St. Nick wanted to keep up the ruse, he could at least have chosen an actual last name.

OK, what is drawing immigrants — Filipino or otherwise — to Greenland? (But also, yes, why Filipinos, because, shoot, that is a climate difference.)

Yes, I know nothing about Greenland other than "Greenland is covered in ice, and Iceland is quite nice."

As for Pp Francis posting McElroy to the D.C. diocese, it is obviously an attempted eye gouge to America for hiring Trump. The San Diego diocese is in near spiritual shambles under his tenure. And the pope may refuse to accredit our new Ambassador, just to further demonstrate his Anti-American bias.

We live in exciting times.

This pope has done more to ‘dis-cumenize’ us from our authentic Separated Brethren than any of his predecessors. Thankfully, like Biden, Francis’ influence is waning. And, despite both of them, Our Catholic Faith is not.

I would add that up until at least the 1983 code of Canon Law, it was actually a canonical crime for a titular Bishop to set foot in his titular see.
