That the Bishops long ago allowed non-Catholic Hospitals in the CommonSpirit Health partnership to do direct sterilizations is reprehensible. One can not compromise with the Devil. Once you've sold your soul you are owned. Catholic Hospitals in a partnership with hospitals that engage in transgender multilations of the Temple of the Holy Spirit must have the Legions in Hell cheering wildly. Kudos to Michael Hitchborn and the Lepanto Institute for uncovering the darker side of the Church.
I’m not sure where the USCCB comes in; do they run CommonSpirit Health? At least, nobody on the leadership team seems to be a bishop or indeed any kind of cleric. I don’t know enough about the business end of it as to why this Dignity Health system affiliated with CommonSpirit or what the nature of that affiliation is beyond maybe resource sharing. How prudent it was, we’re beginning to see now I think.
As to what we can do in the world… we have to live in it and, hopefully, help to redeem it.
"The U.S. bishops, at their plenary assembly in Orlando this week, will vote on whether to authorize their doctrine committee to begin revising their Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. "
That the Bishops would have to vote, get that, vote, on whether to revisit the guidelines for Hospitals regarding transgender surgeries is a sign of the fragility of the moral foundations of the US Bishops. It should be a given. Yes, help redeem the world by praying for our Bishops.
Well, committees vote on stuff, it’s pretty much what they do. You’d rather they let, say, Cupich or McElroy make an imperious pronouncement on whether to revise the out-of-date directives?

Praying for our bishops is a good idea, however.
