Now if we could just get the American authorities to authorize a similar study on McCarrick we here in the US might get a functional from top to bottom Church.

The US church is “running out the clock” of McCarrick’s mortal life just as Opus Dei ran out the clock on Fr. C. John McCloskey. An old football trick.

There's a huge difference between someone with one or two accusations and someone who regularly abused people. And it appears Opus Dei took action as soon as they heard of the first accusation whereas my understanding is that McCarrick continued to remain powerful even after a diocese had paid off one of his victims.

Don't hold your breath, Sue. Francis has just appointed Cardinal Robert McElroy -- longtime McCarrick crony/enabler/beneficiary/protector -- head of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., where he will hobnob with the powerful Georgetown establishment and other custodians of the decadent McCarrick legacy.
