My parish has a St. Vincent's society, it's great to hear more about what they do and how they do it.

SVdP was one of those things that influenced me, before I became Catholic, in favor of the idea that Catholicism had intrinsic strengths in keeping faith and charity together that were harder to find outside the Church proper. Godspeed!

Yes, yes we are paying rent for Christ! Along with utilities, car repairs, food, and whatever else is needed. We embrace our Society's motto, there is no act of charity foreign to us. As a 12 year Vncentian I see 1st hand that what we do prevents homelessness. Our group strives to keep people in their home as much as we can. Once a person falls into homelessness it is certainly difficult to break out of.

Thank you for this story of what the Society of St Vincent de Paul is about. We are a spiritual group first, and through our efforts we bring temporal relief, and prayers and bring people to Christ and the Church.
