Also thanks boys for the run down of what the heck is going on.
Here’s hoping the Chaldean bishops remember who their actual brothers are and that it very much suits a warlord to have religious leaders fighting amongst themselves to maintain their chokehold.
Re: Permanent deacons, our (usual) double-vocation of marriage & holy orders, and a "day off"...I know exactly what you meant and why you excluded us from the topic BUT with this double-vocation...what the (fill in your word of choice) is a day off? NOT complaining just commenting! Praise God for my vocation and that of the growing number of men who, in addition to parish ministries, are being called to serve as incognito clergy bumping shoulders with the people in the streets. Keep up the great Pillar work!
Not necessarily. Canon Law stipulates that, yes, but MANY Bishops have a blanket dispensation of that canon as a norm in their dioceses. My diocese eliminated that dispensation under our previous late +Murry, S.J. in 2018.
So +Flores to Galveston-Houston, so does +Seitz get San Antonio or Los Angeles? Cause I could see Seitz as likely to also get a red hat. And +Danny Thomas gets Cinncy, cause dear Heavens almighty help us if we get Stowe as our Ohio Metropolitan.
Given that Ed called Philadelphia the principal city of New Jersey (true), and that JD is from there, it was disheartening to hear that neither of you seem to know what scrapple really is.
A title for a future article on the Chaldean Church: "Between Iraq and a Hard Place"
THANKS Dad…
Whatever you say BaghDAD...

I wonder if JD actually knows the official name of the UK was changed or if he just does it to annoy Ed and assumably the Irish.
;-)
This was a great podcast. Thanks for highlighting the tension in the Chaldean Church; I had missed that piece.

When I saw the episode title, I thought it might be about the upcoming US election.
So did I.
I did too, but then I saw the show notes about choosing cardinals and started to get worried...
Unless one is in mission territory one is limited to 2 Masses on Sunday.

I'm not from Philadelphia. I'm from north Jersey, a markedly different cultural region, and am proud to be ignorant of Philadelphia customs.
Fair enough. Where is that Substack thumbs-down emoji.
HA!
