If the 500th anniversary gets blue vestments approved for the Mass, even if it's temporarily, I'll be sold.

To be fair, I was already sold.

I would be surprised. I don't believe blue vestments are a part of the Roman tradition, though they are used in the Byzantine rite. We do have lovely gold/white vestments which use blue for Marian days though. I would love to see a Guadalupe inspired set of vestments.

It's not generally, but there are some former Spanish colonies where they're used for Marian feasts. And even in other areas, there are plenty of gold/white vestments for Marian feasts that push the line between embellishment and background color.

Wow, the Mass of the Americas is so beautiful! (I couldn’t actually access the videos in the article but I found it on YouTube sung by the Benedict XVI choir and it’s wonderful.) I love Our Lady of Guadalupe and I do think she can be a lovely way to unite American Catholics of different ethnicities and backgrounds. Especially in the US I like to recognize the fact that Mexico and our other southern neighbors have much deeper roots in Catholicism than our young country does, and show some love and respect for their traditions as fellow American Catholics.
