As far as I know, only the Church in South Korea releases data on this phenomenon.

Ten years ago there was a great little restaurant on the street of Myeongdong Cathedral, about 500 feet to the right in that photo.

South Koreans were very friendly to this traveler. I'd like to go back sometime.

--> With the recent story on French and Belgian baptisms on the rise, it's hard not to see the Holy Spirit stirring in the world, despite all the negative stuff out there.

--> I've got a colleague who loves South Korean tv; in particular a series, "The Fiery Priest", about "a Catholic priest with anger management issues and a detective from the Gudam Police Station who meet during their joint investigation into the murder of an elderly priest" (per IMDB's description). He raves about it. I haven't gotten to it yet, but it's on my list.

The Catholic Church in South Korea also played a huge role in the democratisation of the country by bringing into the light the torture etc that the tyrannical gov engaged in (ie the Park Jong Chul incident) so they have a pretty good reputation in South Korea in general.

Question: South Korea has one of the lowest birth rates in the world. Are Catholics in South Korea different? Are they counter-cultural and have more children?
