I think this is even true when not in confession - sex is an intensely private thing so we euphemize it pretty much always, even when not discussing our own behavior. But you can discuss other major sins without that stigma - e.g. murder (we even have whole genres of entertainment devoted to it that little old grandmas will willingly say…

But the joy of a whodunit is figuring out the puzzle, or enjoying how it's constructed if you already know the solution, not vicarious enjoyment of violence.)
