Sounds like Fabbro is Fabrocating…

“For his part, Fabbro has been outspoken in recent years regarding the problem of clerical sexual abuse.

In 2018, he lamented “the failures of the bishops who covered up abuse” in the Church.

“Catholics are rightly outraged that the bishops failed to put a stop to the abuse. How could they have failed so grievously in their calling to be shepherds of their people and in their responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us?"”

I am not sure if we have advanced much beyond this April 2002 speech by Uncle Ted McCarrick, telling us how much Pope John Paul II loves young people (you fervently wish that someone else had uttered that praise) and how there is no place in the Church for those who harm children. I was a student at TST during the 90s and Bishop Fabbro was one of my professors. I experienced him as a good man, a good Catholic, and a good teacher. I expect the investigation to find him innocent of the charges against him. (I also met Fr. Rosica during that time, but do not have a similar expectation in his case.)

By "good man" you mean that when the Church pretends to have procedures to protect children and others from sexual abuse but implements no means of enforcement of those procedures, he used the discretion he had been given to ignore those procedures.
