I would be interested in knowing the number of pilgrims whp consider themselves practicing Catholics (or even just Christians). Ive known a few people who did the camino who were basically agnostic and had little interest in the religious meaning of the walk. Tourism across Europe has boomed over the last 20 years- Barcelona gets many many more visitors now than it did in 2000, and i have to think a similar phenomenon is at work on the Camino as well.
I hope Saint Olaf's Way in Norway takes off as well!

While the only people I know who did it are practicing Catholics, they all say that most of the people they met on the Camino are not.
My wife and I plan to do the pilgrimage some day.
