"The actor also sought to appeal Christian voters."

--> Hopefully, the outreach is more than just pandering. (Of course, it is pandering; but, hopefully not *just* pandering.)

Indian Christians are utterly derided by the general Hindu Indian population, who also have a strong rejection of most things associated with the West (including the Christian religion) as being “colonial.” Sadly, this anti-West bias also pervades into the Catholics there.

Hindus attack Christians openly in the street. You lose your caste status by converting to Christianity (which is illegal in most provinces, as is Christian evangelizing). A Hindu nationalist movement is a *pagan* nationalist movement - like all pagan nationalist movements (from the Romans to the Turks to the Nazis to the Chi-coms) it will brutally oppress the Faith. “If you think christian nationalism is bad, just wait until you see un-christian nationalism!”

Yes, though the Christians of Kerala have been there since St. Thomas and have nothing to do with western colonialism. Hopefully, a message was delivered that religious nationalism of any form in unacceptable.
