The Pillar at its finest. For months friends and I have been asking one another, “What ever happened to Sr. Wilhelmina?” No other outlets had stayed close to the story after the frenzy, so it’s pleasing The Pillar has made sure to do so. Thanks.
Their recent quarterly newsletter said they're hoping to purchase an abbey in England and start another daughter house. Busy times for these Benedictines!
Their chaplain, Fr. Lawrence Carney, is another interesting character. In addition to saying Mass for the sisters, he spends his days walking around various towns (usually St. Joseph, Missouri) and evangelizing people he meets while walking. I also see him walking around Bel Aire, KS (where I live) because he is from the Wichita diocese and I think runs retreats at a retreat center in Bel Aire. Just an idea for another story the Pillar could look into.
Thanks to the Pillar on this fantastic follow-up piece.
Very connected to Benedictines myself, what a joy it’ll be to visit someday and spend a little quiet time sitting with Sister amidst the slow and simple farm (and monastic) life.
I was able to stop by with my family about 5 years ago, I suppose around the time Sr. Wilhelmina passed away. Even then, the nuns were very welcoming. Its a beautiful place- physically and spiritually!
This is beautiful.
Thanks be to God!

What a beautiful testimony and witness to holiness. Thank you, Jack Figge, for reporting!
Beautiful story!
A great story of an extraordinary nun and great journalism to make the trek and report on it.

Yes and he promotes the Holy Face devotion! Definitely worth a story.
Praise our dear and loving Lord Jesus!
